History: The 1964 University of Kentucky Wildcats, coached by Harry Lancaster, featured prominent multi-sport athlete Cotton Nash. A first baseman and left fielder for the baseball team, Nash also played as a small forward on the UK basketball team. Cotton Nash went on to be drafted by the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers in the second round and spent time with the Lakers, San Francisco Warriors and Kentucky Colonels during his basketball career. Nash also went on to make 13 appearances over three seasons in the MLB with the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins. That achievement alone makes Cotton Nash one of only a handful of players to have played in both the NBA and MLB.
